Appalachian Log Structures creates stunning homes and charming log buildings, from villas to commercial and residential, in Princeton, West Virginia. They recently acquired the wood design software ArchiLogs and ArchiFrame, making them Nordic BIM Group's first ArchiLogs customer in the US.
Appalachian Log Structures specializes in custom floor plans, exceptional materials and support. Their companies and manufacturing facilities are in the abundant timber resources of the Mountain State and Virginia. In 2021, they were looking for an update to their design and log design software, so they contacted US Archicad reseller Tom Simmons, of Archvista, for help. Tom knew about Archicad extensions for log and wood structure design used in Finland: ArchiLogs and ArchiFrame, so he contacted Nordic BIM Group Finland.
Nordic BIM Group organized a demo, after which the cooperation process began. A Trial license of ArchiLogs was made for Appalachian Log Structures, and across the Atlantic they communicated in several meetings, asked questions, tested and sent different models. After a long process, in spring 2022, their final needs were carefully reviewed, and ArchiLogs was customized to suit them. A solution has been found for all needs through customization, and new, better options have also been invented.
Appalachian Log Structures received developing and updating software, and they can now not only keep their design up to date, but also their computers, because outdated software no longer slows down operating system updates. In the future, ArchiLogs can be further customized to the changing needs of the company. ArchiFrame can be used to model parts other than log parts, and they get accurate working drawings. They now also receive more detailed quantity and supply lists of log parts, as well as work drawings for production and construction sites.
We hope for many fruitful years of cooperation with our first American ArchiLogs customer!
